Chocolate Caramel Coffee Protein Shake

Ah, protein shakes! For the past year and half I have been an avid protein shake drinker. I have tried everything from premade shakes (Atkins, Special K, etc) to multiple types of protein powders. After months of research and taste testing, I have to say I have finally found the best protein shake recipe that I have ever tried! This is the only protein shake I will ever drink again!

These protein shakes are based around using Champion Nutrition (Pure Why Stack) protein powder which makes the best, easiest to mix protein powder I have ever tried! It is low in carbs and has no aspartame. This recipe calls for using the Champion Nutrition Chocolate protein powder; however, they also have other protein flavors including vanilla, strawberry, banana scream, cocoa-mochaccino, cookies and cream, chocolate peanut butter and tropical sunrise. (I buy all of my Champion Nutrition Protein Powder online from It is by far the cheapest place I have found it, and their shipping is unbelievably fast!!!)

I personally enjoy these shakes more when using whipping cream; however, half n’ half is cheaper and works just as good! Using the whipping cream will cause the shake to be a little “frothier” when you shake it. This recipe calls for “cooled” coffee, so each evening I brew a fresh pot of coffee, turn the pot off, and in the morning I have all the cooled coffee I need for the day. (Make sure your coffee is cooled prior to adding the protein powder! If the protein powder is added to hot coffee, the heat will denature the protein, changing their shape, which will make the protein taste funny.)

Each of these shakes has 50 grams of protein in it! Talk about being protein packed and these shake rivals, if not beats, Starbuck’s iced caramel frappucino or even a Biggby Caramel Marvel! With the numerous flavors of syrup available, there are tons of modifications you can make to this recipe in order to turn your favorite Starbucks or Biggby drink into a protein drink. I am sure in the future I will follow up with other “modified” protein drinks!

Chocolate Caramel Coffee Protein Shake

1 (28 ounce) Blender Bottle
1 Cup Ice Cubes
2 Pumps Sugar-Free Caramel Syrup
2 Scoops Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Isolate Chocolate Protein Powder
2-3 Tablespoons Whipping Cream or Half n’ Half

With the blender ball in the bottom of the Blender Bottle, fill the Blender Bottle 2/3 of way full with ice cubes, which will require approximately 1 cup of ice cubes. Pour in one cup of cooled coffee until the Blender Bottle is filled to just below the lines on the side of the bottle.

Next, add in the 2 pumps of the Sugar-Free Caramel Syrup (or 1/2 a pump of regular coffee syrup) and 2-3 tablespoons of whipping cream or half n’ half. Top with the 2 scoops of protein powder.

Shake, shake, shake, shake…. and then ENJOY!
