About Meghan

Hi, I’m Meghan, the author of “A Taste of Meghan’s Kitchen”! I begun baking and cooking back in 2003, when I was a freshman in college. Having grown up with a Mom who typically made everything out of a box (no offense, I love you Mom) I was determined to learn how to cook from more than just a box. Since then I have spent numerous hours, days, weeks, months, and years self teaching myself how to cook! (I will admit, one item on my bucket list is to one day take some professional cooking classes!)

For my full time “real” job, I work for the Michigan House of Representatives as a Chief of Staff to one of the State Representatives. I have been working there since late 2003 and I love my job! (It is politics and I always say you either love it or hate it!) In addition to working in downtown Lansing, I am also an avid cook, baker and entertainer! Since 2007 I have owned my own event planning/graphic design business called MKL Event Planning. There is nothing that makes me happier than to be cooking, baking or entertaining our friends and families! It is my long term personal goal to one day be able to turn MKL Event Planning into my full time “real” job!

For about a year I had been “blogging” on my personal facebook page with photos and recipes of the food I make, along with the parties I plan and host. After months of urging from friends and family, in the fall of 2011 I decided to start an “official” blog to share the food and parties I so much enjoy with others.

I live in Mason, Michigan and I am lucky to be married to the most amazing man ever, Mark! Together we have three dogs; a German Shepard/Husky mix named Liberty Bell and two pugs named Cuffs and Capone. Between the three dogs we never really have to worry about cleaning up the kitchen floor when a spill occurs, as they take care of it for us!

Outside of spending time in the kitchen and at work I am an avid runner and Mark and I spend a majority of our free time on the golf course. As of the fall of 2011 I have completed a sprint distance triathlon, half-marathon, and on October 30, 2011 will be running in my first full-marathon!!

In addition to A Taste of Meghan’s Kitchen, I also blog about my running at A Run with Meghan and you can follow Meghan on Pinterest!

Cooking, baking and entertaining our friends are passions that I truly enjoy! As a simple self taught “chef” I am confident that anything I can make, you can make to!
